ah, dumbasses...? taht's prettymuch what standup comedy is: ranting. the difference between some asshole in a coffee shop ranting about his beliefs and Carlin is that Carlin was on a stage -- the people in that audience were paying to listen to the man rant, because his rants were intelligent, funny, relevent, and they made people -- prepare for a terrifying concept -- think.

There are people to replace him. They can't reach the surface though because the comedy industry has changed. Not to mention, there are all these wannabe hacks that try to emulate Bill Hicks, or Carlin.... just for the image of being "edgy". But, without a doubt this man was revolutionary. Some say he wasn't as revolutionary as he's talked up to be. But, I think he is. Anyone who finds lines by crossing them will be revolutionary in any generation. The problem is, none will manifest now.

Wow. I glad you posted this. It is so interesting to hear him talk about how it was hard for him to go back and look at the tapes of the tougher times when he was "knocked down by a fastball pitcher" after how far he had come. I'm glad he had that sense of accomplishment because it is well-deserved. I hope that everyone (even those that hate Carlin) gets to feel that someday, rather than just do what your told (like adult children) and live in average mainstream comfort. Goodbye Mr. Carlin.
